At PoolsXtreme, we believe a truly beautiful pool begins with thoughtful design. As a family-owned business serving Houston, Katy, and Fulshear since 1999, our pool designs are more than blueprints — they’re the foundation for your dream backyard. Every plan is crafted personally by Donald and his wife, who meet with each client to understand their space, vision, and goals before the first shovel of dirt ever moves.

We combine experience, creativity, and attention to detail to ensure your pool design fits your property perfectly — both visually and functionally — resulting in a finished pool that feels like an organic extension of your home.

The PoolsXtreme Pool Designer Philosophy

Combining Aesthetics with Structural Reality

A successful pool design must be both beautiful and buildable. Our approach as a Custom Pool Designer Houston is unique because the person designing your pool is a second-generation builder, not just a salesperson with software. This combined expertise ensures that the stunning aesthetics you see in the rendering are structurally sound and cost-efficient to execute in gunite.

We take into account the specific challenges of your site, including lot size, drainage, and utility placement, to create a final blueprint that maximizes your space and budget. Our commitment to thoughtful planning upfront minimizes costly changes during the construction phase, delivering superior results across Katy, Fulshear, and the entire Houston metro area.

Custom Features and Materials Selection

Expert Guidance from Your Pool Designer Fulshear & Houston Specialist

The selection of materials defines the look and feel of your pool. Our services extend beyond shape and dimension to expert guidance on finishes. As the premier Pool Designer Fulshear residents choose, we source and recommend high-end coping (travertine, limestone), interior finishes (pebble, quartz), and waterline tiles (mosaic, glass). We seamlessly integrate all desired features into the design, including:

  • Tanning Ledges & Baja Shelves: Maximizing shallow water utility and relaxation.

  • Integrated Spas and Water Features: Adding elegance and year-round functionality.

  • LED Color Lighting & Automation: Planning for seamless smart-home integration and nighttime ambiance.

Personalized, Family-Led Pool Design You Can Trust

Donald and his wife personally meet with every client to learn what they truly want in a pool, ensuring each design reflects your preferences, landscape, and long-term needs.

Our designs blend structural integrity with style, ensuring your pool not only looks amazing but also functions perfectly once constructed.

Building a Pool in Houston

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a custom gunite pool take to build in Houston?

Most projects run 4–6 weeks from approvals to first swim, depending on design complexity, permitting/HOA, weather, and feature add-ons. We give you a clear milestone schedule and proactive updates.

What’s the typical budget—and do you offer financing guidance?

Budgets vary by size, materials, and features (spa, tanning ledge, automation, fire/water elements). We provide an itemized, transparent proposal and can walk you through financing options to fit your plan.

Can you build great pools in small or challenging backyards?

Absolutely. We specialize in space-smart designs—plunge pools, geometric footprints, integrated spas, and tanning ledges—engineered to maximize comfort, safety, and flow in compact lots or irregular grades.

Do you handle permits, HOA approvals, and drainage requirements?

We submit the city permits and provide the paperwork required by the HOA for the customer. We do not handle HOA submittals, but we ensure drainage and utility locates are compliant and on schedule.

Why choose a gunite pool for Houston’s climate and soil?

Gunite delivers design flexibility, durability, and long-term value, ideal for Houston clay soils and year-round use. It supports custom shapes, tanning ledges, raised walls, infinity edges, and premium finishes.

Do you renovate older pools—and which upgrades add the most value?

Yes. We handle resurfacing, new tile/coping, deck updates, LED lighting, automation, energy-efficient equipment, and feature add-ons like sheer descents, bubblers, and fire bowls. These upgrades modernize look, cut maintenance, and boost efficiency.
